| Planit recently conducted the third annual Software Testing Index, the 2009 results will be available shortly. A record 348 corporations and government agencies across New Zealand and Australia participated, the majority of which were organisations in the finance, insurance, telecommunications, logistics and government sectors. Analysis was conducted on both the total number of projects commenced, as well as the most important project over the past two years.
The Index reports on a standard set of metrics to describe the “state of the nation” for software testing; how it is changing, emerging challenges, related software development practices and the factors that influence the testing metrics. The study was initiated to provide a value added service by producing valuable benchmark information on testing, relevant not just to the industries within which participants belong, but also the country and market they operate in. The findings and conclusions provide relevant, independent and objective informtion so that participants can better research, plan, budget and execute their testing strategies to affect more successful IT project implementations.
